Ghosts

Description

"Ghosts" presents the folk rite of the Eastern European Dziady night as a ritual calling for social justice - a moment when society summons the spirits of the dead to listen to them, judge them, forgive them or condemn them. In the chaos of modernity, we want to draw from the romantic struggle of the individual with evil and the search for justice also beyond the visible world. The performance is an attempt to cope with fear and a sense of helplessness in the face of the great of this world by trusting in the power of goodness, truth and beauty. We treat it as a ritual of purifying collective and individual memory through the beauty of sound, movement, matter, light and body. The choreography inspired by romantic ballet and villa characters is processed by contemporary forms, fragmentary like memory. The white fabric 8x8 m symbolizes the flag, shroud, blank page and the tissue of society. It illustrates both the romantic vision of sensual cognition of the world, as well as the constant movement and transformation of reality.
