JAPI
Description
The performance touches on the theme of the masculine ideal, telling the story of both the alpha male we are familiar with and the contemporary, enigmatic sigma male. The title “JAPI” alludes to the social category of the yuppie, which emerged in the 1980s in the USA and became a role model for many young careerists around the world, as well as to its awkward Polish counterpart, the so-called japiszoni. The play’s protagonists are five men focused on achieving success and social prestige, enslaved by an obsessive lifestyle, a penchant for high material status and luxury, and the need to constantly create a perfect version of themselves.
