Homo homini porcus

Description

The performance explores the phenomenon of revolution, its inevitable brutality, and questions the meaning of rebellion as an act that shapes social reality. In a world where control, domination, and violence become everyday norms, we aim to create a space for collective reflection. Does rebellion still hold transformative power, or does it merely reproduce new cycles of suffering? The performance is a conversation about social upheavals born from a deep sense of injustice and the need to reclaim agency. It is inspired by George Orwell’s novel Animal Farm, which, with ruthless precision, exposes the mechanisms of manipulation and domination that turn the dream of equality into a system of exploitation. This is an act of resistance and a bodily response to a world that enforces silence—a space between hope and despair, an experience that pierces through time and memory.

Artist's/band's artistic biography

Buried Dance Theatre – a collective of independent dance artists whose practice emerges from a deep need to explore social, bodily, and emotional tensions. Their work is rooted in the belief that dance can and should serve as a tool for critical thinking. They are not interested in art confined by aesthetics – they focus on movement that provokes reflection and action, movement that refuses to accept the status quo. Their mission is to initiate transformative processes – both within their audiences and in the social structures they comment on. They work with a wide range of dance and performative techniques, including contemporary dance, physical theatre, floorwork, and Japanese butoh, allowing them to create complex, multidimensional stage works. In 2022, they were invited by Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch to participate in the international dance festival *Under Construction – Underdogs and Role Models*. In 2024, they took part in the Polish Dance Platform at *Open Platform/Let’s Network*. In 2025, they presented their performance *Homo homini porcus* at the Polish Dance Theatre as part of the accompanying program of the Malta Festival.
