Watch me!

Description

How much of what we see is truly "ours," and how much is shaped by the gaze of others, by memories and echoes of what we've already seen—or what we have yet to notice? Choreographer Magda Jędra, together with invited performers, invites you to a performance in the space of Gdańsk Archipelago of Culture, where glancing, peeking, and spying become central acts—a reflection on the dynamics of power, control, and observation in everyday life. Watch Me is a celebration of individual agency—and, at the same time, an exploration of its limits. Watch Me is a space where the boundaries between individuality and collectivity begin to blur, and the senses are attuned anew. Watch Me poses questions: Who is looking? Who is being watched? Where is the boundary between the viewer and the performer? Watch Me meanders between the known and the unknown, the forgotten, the unnoticed, the lost in the subconscious. Watch Me—our bodies and yours, drifting to the rhythm of the same beat.

Artist's/band's artistic biography

Magda Jędra – dancer, choreographer, performer, and educator. In her choreographic work, she combines performance art with a site-specific approach. For several years, she has been deepening her knowledge of nature, exploring channels of communication between the human and plant bodies. In 2019, she began developing the concept of the "botanic body", and in December of that year, as part of Global Practice Sharing, she presented the results of her artistic residency and research at Judson Memorial Church in New York. She continues to develop the botanic body practice in her recent works: "Złe ziele" ("Evil herbs") and "Las i ludzie" ("The Forest and the People"). She lives in Gdańsk.
