Work

Description

Five dancers, one ball, many strategies. A 7.25 kg iron shot becomes a task, challenge, partner. The piece explores different approaches to work – professional, personal, relational. In the solo actions, we see individual ways of tackling problems, both physical and symbolic. Inspired by Embodied Heuristics and 4E Cognition theories, the dancers engage in movement experiments. The shot, removed from its athletic context, imposes restrictions but also opens new possibilities. We observe physical and emotional strategies: curiosity, frustration, laughter, resignation. Blues music accompanies the piece – Patryk Zakrocki’s solo guitar creates stories parallel to the dancers’. The solo form highlights individuality and solitude, while the observing dancers reflect Authentic Movement practices. Slow movement and sound resist workaholism and rush, embracing slow life. We work somatically, drawing on Body-Mind Centering®, creating ambiguous images and inviting the audience’s own interpretations. The project was developed in response to the post-pandemic situation in the labor market.
