About Platform

Polish Dance Platform is the most important professional networking event in our country. It has the potential to create international cooperation and a sustainable presence of Polish dance professionals. The Platform is open not only for dancers or choreographers but extends its invitation to managers, presenters, producers, researchers, dance promoters, festival organizers, representatives of other dance platforms, dance business sponsors, philanthropists, dance aficionados, and lovers from all over a world. The Polish Dance Platform is also a showcase for Polish contemporary dance productions chosen in the open call and competition, as well as numerous meetings, workshops, panel discussions, and many more.

Over twenty years of experience

The history of the Polish Dance Platform dates back to 2003. The first edition has been part of the Body/Mind International Contemporary Dance Festival. The initiators sought to create a major platform for artistic dialogue and cooperation in the new realities of integrated Europe.

The main organizer of the first Polish Dance Platform was the Independent Dancers Association (operating from 1995 to 2005), aided by co-organizers and partners, including the Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art, Stara Prochownia, Mały Theater, the City of Warsaw and the ORLEN – DAR SERCA Foundation.

In the following years, the ZAMEK Culture Centre and the Art Station Foundation co-organized three editions of the Polish Dance Platform in Poznań, held respectively in 2008, 2010, and 2012.

In 2013, pursuant to an agreement with the existing organizers, the Institute of Music and Dance became the main organizer of the Polish Dance Platform. Since then, the Institute has organized three editions of the Platform. Each was held in a different city, in cooperation with local institutions, organizations and dance communities.in 2014 (Lublin, in cooperation with Lublin Centre for Culture), 2017 (Bytom, in cooperation with the Bytom Dance and Movement Theatre Rozbark), and 2019 (Gdańsk, in cooperation with Polka dot Foundation and Dada von Bzdülöw Theatre). In 2021, the Institute was renamed the National Institute of Music and Dance (NIMiT).

The final of the 8th edition of the Polish Dance Platform took place on April 18-21, 2024, in Łódź. The event was co-organized by Materia and the Academic Center for Artistic Initiatives in Łódź.

We are looking for a Co-organiser for the 9th edition of the Polish Dance Platform, which will take place from 17 to 20 September 2026.
