BIOLAND

Description

“Bioland” explores humanity's impact on our planet, weaving together themes of captivity/confinement, industrialization, and technological progress that is reshaping ecosystems and affecting the lives of living organisms worldwide. Viewers are invited to contemplate their place within the system unfolding in front of them, raising questions around the perceived boundary between observer and participant. Blurring the lines between spectacle, experiment, exhibit, and enclosure, the work challenges anthropocentric values through a fantastical, at times surrealistic, lens. “Bioland” invites us to reflect on the interplay between human evolution and the fragile balance of life for all beings on the planet. “You do not live outside the scene, but within it, subject to all the same horrors you can see afflicting the lives of animals” David Wallace-Wells, “The Uninhabitable Earth”
